Rants With Atmosphere!!!

To Loofah or Not to Loofah

Over the weekend it was brought to my attention that using a washcloth may be going out of style. Now I get the whole body wash craze and you just don't get the same lather using joeschmo washcloth but I wonder if you can get spic and span clean with a loofah? Even harder for me to understand after speaking with the Best Friend about just this topic, what about those folks who choose to use neither? Exsqueeze me, hands don't double as cleaning mittens last I checked.

It's mind boggling. For the past two days or so I've been trying to figure out how one washes his back sans washcloth. It must have something to do with flexibility. Obviously there are some pointers I can pick up from these hand bandits. And even more disturbing what about those areas hidden by undergarments, oh I shutter to even think it.

So once you "wash" up all palms and fingers do you really feel, you know...clean? I find it hard to believe soapy hands work as well as soapy clothes or even a ripped up shirt. Can you get a good scrub going to ensure the dirt of the day is washed away?

And because of this very topic I now feel validated in my refusal to shake hands with folks, see this post . It just goes to show you never know what people are up to and I must guard myself from these types of cooties at all cost. Oh and just a word to the wise, pick up a scrub brush you dirty bastards!!!

I use the nylon puff thinges you have an image of in your post and body washes. I soak the nylon puffs in a bowl with boiling water every week and I toss them out and get new ones frequently. I'm also into aromatherapy and making my own bubblebath. I love immersing myself in hot water. :)

I use the thingys too, we call them body scrunchies in the UK. Well I do anyway. I had a bad experience with one though, just after I got my nipple pierced, painful! lol.

I use a washcloth for my face, with a St Ives facial scrub.

@Claire, St Ives is awesome it smells go great and leaves your face feeling totally clean.

@TT you sound about as compulsive as I am....but you are also giving me an idea soaking in boiling water has to get rid of the germs.

For some reason, I can't get into the little spongy things. They're too soft for me. It doesn't really feel like I'm scrubbing, ya know? It's washcloths all the way.

I don't understand how people wash with just the soap though. They aren't scrubbing!

I'm a puffy shower thing user, too. And you HAVE to get new ones regularly, because what starts out a cute little shower puffy ends up exploding into a giant big tribble of a creature in a few months. One that could push YOU out of the shower.

I don't understand how it happens. I think these things feed on soap scum and grow. :)

I just use soap because I live alone and don't have to worry about sharing germs. I'm not a germophobe anyway.
