Well friends as I ran back to read the comments on Jen's last post she advised me that since I've never seen Independence Day I'm not allowed back to the site until I give it a whirl. WTH!!! As a child I never dealt well with punishment and it doesn't feel too good as an adult either!
Sulking back to my corner thinking, is this a part of the blog -o- buddy relationship? Am I responsible for having seen all the movies every other kool kid's viewed. I don't think I was privy to that memo.
It started me thinking about other box office hits everyone raves and rants about that sadly don't interest me. Here's the list in no particular order. And regardless of the taunts that are sure to come I'm not renting, DVRing (if I actually had this contraption) or On Demanding any of these flicks.
- Braveheart - men in kilts are hot but still didn't get a rise out of me
- Titantic - I already know how this ends
- Gladiator - Russell Crowe is not my brand of undies
- Armageddon - Honestly I don't even remember the previews (this is getting sad I know)
- The Last Samurai - Seriously Tom Cruise isn't even Japanese
- Grease - I heard the songs isn't that enough
- None of the Star Wars movies even the originals - this is odd I actually liked Star Trek the Next Generation
- Gone With the Wind - There's something about movies on plantations that I can't really get into, go figure
- None of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise - Honestly Johnny Depp gave me the skeevies in the previews and that was pretty much a wrap, I liked him better as officer Tom Hanson
Of course in order to break the bars cyber wrapped around Jen's site I will make the concession and see Independence Day but only because she said that it's ...so phenomenally good and so fucking funny. Without that candid testimony it would forever remain on the not gonna watch it list.
8 Pardon My French:
I haven't seen Titanic or Forest Gump or Mr. Holland's Opus or any of the other films everyone says I should watch.
PS- You weren't missing anything with Armageddon. Large meteor threatens Earth, Ben Affleck plays Ben Affleck, rag tag team attempts to save us all, end credits. :)
I agree. There are some movies that I'm just not going to watch. The only one that I have seen on your list is Braveheart.
@Jenn, well now I'm glad I didn't see Armageddon considering Ben Affleck doesn't even play Ben Affleck that well.
But really Forest Gump was pretty funny I think you would like it but it doesn't have any zombies!
@Crystal Monae, it makes my heart warm that I'm not the only one out there who hasn't seen grown men running around in kilt.
Well you're always welcomed to my page of adventures...unless of course, you make me watch sappy sh** like "He's Just Not That Into You" - seen it tonight, and I don't know what all the fuss was about???? HATED IT!!!!!
Like come the eff on??? Seriously??? (I'm confused)
Hmmm,
Me being a pop culture person, I've seen about the majority of the ones on your list.
But for I get strange looks from people when I say that I'm not interested in the Harry Potter movies or books, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Chronicles of Nardnia, and other movies based on book series (nerds).
@Diva, claws down Jen was just joking but I like that you're riding with me like a true sistah girl would. Ha ha
@Shawn, you get a gold star for the Lord of the Rings thing although I read the books when I was a young thing. Harry Potter isn't a good look for a grown man.
I'm with you :D
You must have withdrawn quite a lot from society to have managed to escape the Evil Forces dragging us by force to watch Titanic or Star Trek in masses. I remember being awaken at 5 am by men in blacks, putting up a small fight (but what can you do against iron giants!) and getting something injected. Next thing I remember was sitting through the 3 damn hours of Titanic. Nobody heard me screaming as it seems everyone was already dying on the screen. When We Got Out, We Were All One, As Part Of The Continuum.
Good luck, keep up the freedom movement going, we all look up to you, those who didn't Watch The Movies :D
Out of that list, Independence Day is the least one you should concern yourself with seeing. It's your human duty to see Star Wars.
